Mr. Hutt has extensive experience in chemical plant maintenance, operations, project engineering, construction, and startup in the United States, Brazil and Singapore. He has considerable experience in maintenance engineering, project development, estimating, and onsite project implementation. James has worked with foreign governments in the Asia-Pacific Region, which lead to building an adipic acid plant in Singapore. He has participated in new employee selection and training at several grass root plants.
Typical Projects
Mechanical engineer and consultant for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant to biologically treat hazardous waste streams from the manufacture of nylon intermediates and specialty chemical products. Resident engineer who provided liaison with engineering contractor during design phase of the project.
Project engineer for design and construction of an adipic acid plant in Singapore. Member of DuPont team that evaluated prospective Asian countries in which to locate a manufacturing facility. DuPont representative for land leasing and site development with the Singapore government. Served on the advisory committee for future land development and logistics management for the Singapore government from 1992 to 1994.
Project engineer for design, construction, and startup of a hydrofluoric acid plant in Brazil, which eliminated wastewater discharge to a nearby river.
Project mechanical engineer for design, construction, and startup of a world-class chloroform plant near Corpus Christi, Texas. James worked with several valve manufactures to design valves for severe chemical service. One such valve won the John Valor award for its excellence in design to prevent leaks of hazardous chemicals.
Project mechanical engineer for design, construction, and startup of a caustic chlorine plant near Corpus Christi, Texas. Responsible for maintenance management following plant startup.
Operations supervisor for startup of a Butacite™ plastic sheeting plant that included water purification, steam generation, and wastewater treatment operation in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Awards and Recognition
Recipient of the DuPont 1999 Engineering Excellence Award for engineering work performed on the Victoria (Texas) Plant Biotreatment facility.
Recognized by the Singapore government’s Economic Development Board for developing a program whereby Singapore industry could partner more cost effectively with the local suppliers for goods and services.
